Cyrcl, the only bicycle-sharing mobility company in Sofia, has added 100 electric bikes to its fleet. At the beginning of this summer, the company had 150 bikes , but in the months since, another 100 have been added. With these and the new e-bikes, its fleet in the capital increases to 350. At the start of its activities in April 2022, it consisted of barely 50.

Shortly after midnight on April 16, 2022, orange bicycles appeared on the streets of Sofia, with which Cyrcl's activities were to officially begin in the morning. Only minutes after being left on the street, one of the bikes managed to attract the first customer of the new shared mobility service. He sees the bike, scans its QR code and downloads the mobile app that unlocks the bike.

This is the equivalent of 300,000 minutes of cycling by users of the Cyrcl service, which saved 8.5 tons of carbon emissions according to Enrico Marinov, one of the three co-founders of the first Bulgarian company for shared mechanical bicycles. And only five months after the official launch of the application, whose mission is to make Sofia a greener city, and after the capital to enter other locations in the country.

Over the week-end, Bulgarian mobility startup Cyrcl launched the first free-floating bike sharing app and service available in Bulgaria (Ed.note with no pre-specified pick-up and drop-off locations). Their first stop: Sofia.
The startup received an initial investment of €100K from investors Julian Zahariev and Kamen Yonchev, a member of the angel club CEO Angels Club.
