Frequently asked questions

General information and registration

  • Cyrcl is a service for short-term rental of bikes, otherwise known as bike-sharing.
  • We came across our name when we blended together two interrelated words and the symbolism behind them. For us the meaning of circle (this is how we pronounce our name) is tightly intertwined with that of sustainability, while cycle symbolizes progress and continuous motion — notions to which we strongly relate.

  1. Find a nearby bike on the map and optionally book your ride
  2. Scan the QR code to unlock your vehicle
  3. Enjoy your ride 🚴
  4. Park in the zone outlined on the map, lock manually using the smart lock above the rear tire, and then end your rental from the app button

Minimum requirements

  • None, unless you apply for a specific Pass to get more benefits. In that case we might request a verification document according to the terms of the respective offer.
  • For safety reasons, Cyrcl is only available to people over the age of 16.

    If you are under this age, we are sure that there’s a bunch of other interesting services that you can use. Enjoy them!
  • Our mobile app is available for Android and iOS. You can download it here.

Before and during a ride

  • Currently our service is available only in certain areas of Sofia, Bulgaria. Download our mobile app here to check the zone outlined on the map.
  • If you wish to see our bikes in your city, please tell us here
  • You are free to ride Cyrcl anywhere in Sofia. 
  • In order to ride outside Sofia, you need prior written consent from our team. You can contact us at +359 896 755 556 or info@cyrcl.eu.
  • You only need to rent the bike for at least 120 minutes, and then full-day rental will be activated automatically. We won’t charge you for any additional minutes until the 24-hour rental limit is reached!
  • Please, keep in mind that the full-day rental fee is valid only if you use the same bike for the entire period without ending your session. If you end your rental session and start a new one, regardless of whether you rent the same bike or a new one, the countdown to 120 minutes will start again.
  • When you book a bike, the first 15 minutes of your reservation are free. In order to extend your reservation period, you must pay a fee according to our current pricing list.
  • You can pause your bike rental anywhere in Sofia — you don’t need to be in the designated parking area to do so.
  • Pausing your trip is easy! First, lock the bike manually using the smart lock above the rear tire, and then end your session on the mobile app by pressing the “Lock” and “Pause” buttons successively.

Ending a ride

  • You can park your bike anywhere in the designated area. You will find it outlined on the map in our mobile app.
  • Don’t forget to follow the parking rules.

  3. Then end your session on the mobile app by pressing the “Lock” and “End rental session” buttons successively

Prices and payments

  • After downloading our mobile app, add your debit/credit card details from the “Payment method” section on the menu.
  • You can check our current pricing list here.
  • Yes, the highest fee you can pay for 24 hours is equal to 120 minutes of use at our standard rate. Yes, you got it right! It doesn’t matter whether you rent a Cyrcl bike for 2 or for 24 hours.
  • Please, keep in mind that the full-day rental fee is valid only if you use the same bike for the entire period without ending your session. If you end your rental session and start a new one, regardless of whether you rent the same bike or a new one, the countdown to 120 minutes will start again.

  • If you want to receive an invoice, please contact us at info@cyrcl.eu, and we will make sure to send it to you immediately after the end of the month. The invoice will contain the payments for all your rental sessions for the respective month.
